DJ Construction Partners With Poly-Wood to Help Productivity and Size

Syracuse business breaks ground on additional manufacturing space.

Syracuse – Homegrown business Poly-Wood, Inc. continues to grow in its manufacturing of outdoor performance furnishings made with recycled plastic milk jugs. On July 26, 2013, the company broke ground on an addition project, partnering with DJ Construction Company.

The new area falls in the center of four existing buildings, requiring special attention by the builders for designing the roof slopes and connecting the structures.

The 42,260 square foot addition will allow for extra manufacturing space and also includes plans for a showroom to display their 26 varied styles of outdoor furniture.

The design incorporates a glass curtain wall with a telescoping door that opens up the showroom to the exterior. The showroom and design center enable Poly-Wood to better showcase their products and design capabilities to retail customers.

Two other features include prismatic skylights and daylighting controls that both enhance the area while also improving energy efficiency.

Doug Rassi, President of Poly-Wood, expects to add 38 new jobs in 2014 due to the expansion.

“With this addition, Poly-Wood will be able to continue growing. Continual growth equates to more jobs in terms of employees, contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers.

“We are also glad to choose DJ Construction as our building partner who supplies us and supports our growth,” said Rassi.
